THE TEMPEST

20th-23rd May 2015 New Wimbledon Studio Theatre, Directed by Emma Miles

“Be not afeard; the isle is full of noises"

Director's notes:

On an island of enchantments, a sorcerer unleashes the storm that will impel revenge...

This production will see the studio theatre transformed to an island lost in time. Using projections, live music and performance, all the uncanny magic of this story will be brought to life.

The Tempest is believed by many to be Shakespeare's final great masterpiece, with the character of Prospero holding a mirror to the workings of a great dramatist mastering a plot, even as they themselves become mastered by it. I'm particularly drawn to the themes of enslavement, love and usage in the play, and hope we can really draw out the complexities of power in these relationships on stage.
