Joining Carlton
You can join us at any time during the year, though if you want to get to know us first then come to one of our social events, see what we get up to and have a chat with us. You may prefer to talk to us after one of our shows! If you would like to come along to a rehearsal please contact us first before turning up, particularly around production weeks and in holiday periods. While we normally rehearse on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Lantern Methodist Church, Wimbledon (see When & Where), there will be no rehearsals during production weeks and over Christmas, and occasionally they may be moved to different days or to alternative venues.

Carlton accepts new Members with all levels of experience from complete novices to trained actors, directors and stage crew. New Members are not required to audition, although we do hold auditions for most of our productions. If you audition for a production and are given a part, you will be required to become a Full Member (see Membership Rates below).

Membership of Carlton Theatre Group is open to all from the age of 18 and upwards. We do not have a junior section, although occasionally we may require children for one-off performances. Our productions are mostly adult oriented - for children's activities we would recommend a dedicated theatre such as The Polka Theatre. In situations where we do invite children to participate in our performances, we require that they be escorted by a parent or guardian.

Membership Rates
We have two types of Membership – Full and Associate – depending on what involvement you wish to have in Carlton’s activities.

Full membership: £40 per year. Full Members shall be entitled to participate in all activities of the Society, including seeking membership of the General Committee.

Associate membership: £20 per year. Associate Members shall not be entitled to act in, produce, direct or stage manage any of the Society's productions but may assist those that do and may perform front of house duties.

Membership Year
Membership is renewable annually based on when you join, If you join in November, for example, then your membership will run until the following November and be due for renewal at that time. Associate Members may upgrade at any time to become Full Members but their renewal date shall remain as before. Membership renewals offer a 12.5% discount.

Membership Philosophy
Carlton aspires to be as inclusive as possible. If you have difficulty paying the membership or production fee, for example as a result of being unemployed, a student or on a pension then you may apply to the committee to pay in instalments and this will be treated in the strictest confidence. This decision is at discretion of the General Committee but rest assured all applications will be met sympathetically and treated in the strictest confidence.

Production Fees
Production Fees cover some of the costs incurred when putting on a production, currently for actors they are £50 for a Major role, £25 for a Medium role and £10 for a Minor role. These are decided based on time spent on stage and number of lines. Productions Fees for Directors will usually be £50 and Stage Managers usually £25.

Constitution
Full details of everything above are available in the official Constitution of Carlton Theatre Group, which is available here.

Membership fees, Production fees, and associate membership activities may be altered by action of an Extraordinary General Meeting of Carlton members.
