Nell Gwynn written by Jessica Swale & directed by Susanna Statton
17th - 21st May 2022
Studio at New Wimbledon Theatre, SW19 1QG

At a time in the 17th century when theatre was reviving after being shut down for a long time (unimaginable!), we follow a simple, young orange seller's rise to becoming one of the first celebrated actresses and the favoured mistress of King Charles II. Nell's story is told with bawdy wit and a modern take on restoration humour.
With music by award-winning composter Daryl Griffith, dances, songs and an ensemble of colourful characters; Nell Gwynn is a play full of high energy, heart and fun and a young, spirited woman everyone will fall in love with.
